We store the Past in the Future

ABOUT FOUNDER

Isha Bajpai : I am a senior in high school in California, with broad dreams of creating a future with the foundational presence of our past! By improving our future, I hope to encourage small steps to be taken in making our world a more happy and community packed place to be. By majoring in computer science or engineering I hope to acquire the tools needed to improve and build a brighter future for us and those who come.

INSPIRATION

My feet hit the cool sidewalk as my Nani (grandmother) and I walked under the cherry trees of our neighborhood pond. We walk in silence taking in the afternoon breeze. We came across a set of benches, and suddenly my Nani started talking. Telling stories she remembered from the times she brought me there as a baby and ones of her past in India. These niche stories as well as major hidden stories is what drives VTC. My grandmothers both have so much to say if just given the chance. Especially with kids like me, in a younger generation, I see importance in telling these stories. They aren’t only who our grandparents are, they are part of our history too, how we came to be, and our motivation for our own future aspirations.

Recently, my Nani passed away, and although she won’t get to use this app, I strongly believe allowing your grandparents or elderly in your life to use this app will help you better connect as well as bring out a voice you may have never heard them speak before!

The National Library of Medicine has found that as time goes on the digital gap between the middle generation closes compared with the younger generation, while the oldest generation still demonstrates less capability with digital and social media.

The progression of VTC

accessibility

Originally meant for large monitor devices in beta version, however due to androids being far more accessible I opted for androids

steady goals

Throughout the process the main strengths of legibility, welcoming aesthetics, as well as purpose of app didn’t budge, helping set goals steadily

TIME

Time commitment to school activities, my sport (table tennis), as well as other goals of improving my skillset, made TIME MANAGEMENT something I learned to embrace.
